WMCCE starts work on 2nd Supply Chain initiative with FIIS programme

3rd Jun 2010

Following the success from last year, when nearly 40 local SMEs went through their Construction Commitment readiness training workshops in order to support the  FIIS (Find It In Sandwell) supply chain requirements, a new round of delivery has started which will see upwards of 250 companies prepared for future work in the Sandwell area. Local governments are being driven by requirements to get at least 60% of their supply chain compliant with the Construction Commitments (part of the 2012 Olympic construction directive) by 2012 and Sandwell is using the FIIS model to ensure that this happens.

WMCCE is involved with the delivery of  25 separate groups of companies, each with 10 participants, at a rate of about 4 companies per month. Delivery started in April and continues for the next 12 months.Paul Hackney says “ It is pleasing that WMCCE has been chosen again to provide this training support for FIIS following the uptake and success of the programme last year. The interaction and feedback from the participating SMEs has been very positive and encouraging for the future of the local supply base in Sandwell.”
