WMCCE in 2012

The WMCCE programme is set to continue in 2012 and the team plans to deliver targeted support that can continue to provide the regional construction industry with independent guidance and best practice support. A key thrust of WMCCE's current work is to help the regional industry understand the potential impact of the Government's Construction Strategy and its IGT Low Carbon Strategy more here.

WMCCE Awards 2012

The West Midlands Constructing Excellence Awards for 2012 were launched on Tuesday 13th December 2011 (see the Vodcast). Application packs for awards can be obtained through the WMCCE Best Practice site at www.bpsite.wmcce.org. Applications must be received for the awards before 29th February 2012.

Celebrating Construction 2012 will take  place on 6th July 2012 at the ICC, in partnership with Birmingham City Council and CIOB. This will include presentations of the Birmingham City Council Built in Quality Awards and the West Midlands Constructing Excellence Awards. Table and seat bookings are being taken - visit the WMCCE Best Practice site for further information.

Breaking Down the Barriers to BIM Adoption

Bringing together leading practitioners, including David Philp (Head of BIM Implementation at the Cabinet Office), this conference showcased the benefits of using Building Information Modelling (BIM) and explained how its adoption will require changes in workflow, practices and procedures.

The event  included case study presentations, workshops, Question and Answer session and opportunities to meet software providers.

Such platforms include the local Constructing Excellence (Best Practice) Clubs and the Demonstration Programme. WMCCE also provides information on opportunities for businesses as well as useful links for other business and construction related information.

Sustainable Construction promotion as part of the Sustainability agenda, low carbon solutions and sustainable communities.

Skills improvement through upskilling the workforce and encouraging newcomers into the industry.
