Summary:

Celebrating Construction 2010 is a showcase and awards ceremony that provides recognition of the professionalism, excellence and innovation that lies at the heart of the West Midlands’ construction community. The awards aim to represent the broadest possible spectrum of achievements. This event is well established as the “Oscars” of the industry in the region, but continues to evolve, reflecting the dynamic nature of the industry.

Celebrating Construction is co-hosted by Birmingham City Council’s Building Consultancy service, the Chartered Institute of Building’s (CIOB) West Midlands branch and the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence (WMCCE).

The 2010 event will incorporate Building Consultancy’s twelfth annual Built in Quality Awards, which will be presented by The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Michael Wilkes. The awards promote and reward excellent work
in construction, and winners are chosen from projects nominated by building consultancy surveyors across the region.
For the second year the WM7, a Local Authority Building Control partnership between Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, and Wolverhampton Metropolitan Borough Council, have joined forces to profile their work across the West Midlands region.

Celebrating Construction 2010 will once again play host to WMCCE’s Constructing Excellence Awards. These awards are open to both public and private sector organisations based in the West Midlands and whose business is construction related. The WMCCE Constructing Excellence Awards will be made in the five categories of Leadership in People Development, Integration and Collaborative Working, Health and Safety, Sustainability, and Innovation. In addition, for the first time, there will be a Project of the Year Award. This will be presented to the project team that has shown exemplary technical achievement, team working, innovation, and application of best practice whilst delivering a project to time and budget.
