Project Innovation: 
The partnerships knowledge of the importance of community consultation, partnering, supply chain integration and open book working should be viewed as a transferable model for the future delivery of housing programmes.
Current Status: 
Phase 2 of the project commenced on 1 December 2010 with partners Vinci Facilities ,Thomas Vale and Taylor Woodrow. The project will continue until 2013 and possibly for an additional 12 months beyond that. 5000 council houses will be upgraded within this phase of the development.

Lancaster House, Oldbury, under refurbishmentLancaster House, Oldbury, under refurbishmentThe Sandwell Decent Homes Partnership is a partnership between Sandwell Homes, Taylor Woodrow, Lovell Partnerships, Wates Living Space, Connaught Partnerships and Thomas Vale Construction. The partnership works closely with the public, and in particular with tenants.

Created in 2005, the project is a 7 year framework, worth £425 million.

The Team has been able to create over 150 apprentice positions and employ over 1,000 people from the area.

  • The use of collaborative procurement has saved over £600,000 for the council and local tax payers during the year 2006/7. There will have been ongoing savings

Environment

  • 96% of all non hazardous construction waste is recycled and diverted from landfill

  • Using the local workforce has allowed the team to gain real benefits from their training agendas, including better skilled staff, lower churn rate, projects delivered on time and an increased Corporate Social Responsibility
