Birmingham Council House, Birmingham
Date:
30th Mar 2010
Duration:
1 hour
Time:
07:30 - 09:30
Summary:

Our keynote speaker will be Neil Edginton a director with the Birmingham Development Company (BDC) and BuildAbility (BAL) who will be providing an update on The Cube - an iconic £100 million, 25-storey mixed-use development and final phase of The Mailbox, prior to its opening.

Neil will explain why BDC invested in a Build-it-Yourself concept and took on the challenges and risks of previously untested high-tech systems and complex detailing when others shied away from the massive commitment.

The presentation will include an overview of the high-risk contingency planning and strategic approach that was required, the innovative construction techniques implemented and the lessons learnt.

The Birmingham Best Practice Club is the Birmingham branch of Constructing Excellence and provides a platform for exchanging knowledge, showcasing best practice and raising awareness of issues within construction and the built environment.
