

In conjunction with Advantage West Midlands Building Technologies Cluster, the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence (WMCCE) will be hosting a Question and Answer style forum, which will provide a unique opportunity to reflect on how the fortunes of this important sector may be affected by future government policies at a time of significant economic and political uncertainty.
The panel will comprise West Midlands based MPs or Parliamentary Candidates from the three main political parties:
Jack Dromey, deputy general secretary of the Unite union, who has been chosen as prospective candidate to replace Birmingham Erdington's retiring MP, SiƓn Simon, at the general election. He is married to Harriet Harman and is a strong trade unionist.
Lorely has been MP for Solihull since 2005, In the run up to the 2005 General Election, Lorely campaigned on various local issues affecting Solihull, in particular protecting green open spaces and parkland from development by the local Conservative council. She succeeded in overturning a 9,400 majority held by the Conservative incumbent, John Taylor - one of the most outstanding results on election night - by just 279 votes!
Maggie Throup is the prospective candidate for Solihull. Maggie has lived in Solihull since 1987 and is committed to campaigning for freedom, opportunity and choice throughout the constituency.
The panelists will face an audience drawn from a wide cross section of senior executives and other construction industry representatives engaged in the built environment who will be keen to find out what the future holds for the industry in the West Midlands.
