The existing College will be closed to make way for a new college at the old Rover site, Longbridge which is situated on the A38. It is part of a larger development scheme. The project commenced in February 2010 and is due for completion in September 2011. The current budget for the project is £66 million.

This is the biggest new build for an educational establishment in Birmingham and beyond in an area devastated after the collapse of MG Rover.

Benefits of the Project

The new building will be a blend of esthetics and functionality, with industry standard state of the are facilities. With its insipirational and ambitious design, it is hoped that the building will provide a learning environment for the future, thereby directly benefitting the students.

Targets

The targets are time, cost and quality. The exceptional co-operation of everyone during the construction period involving Bournville College, the contractor, consultantsw and St Modwen should be above and beyond the industry norm. The project is also aiming for BREEAM Excellent, and compliance with LSE Guidance and requirements.
