Don't miss finditinbirmingham.com’s breakfast networking event, on
August 5, which will discuss Birmingham City Council's 'Birmingham
Energy Savers' scheme (formerly called ‘the Green New Deal’).
It
will take place in hall 11 of the ICC. Registration will be at 6:45 for
the 7-9am event, and there will be a free bacon and egg bap and tea and
coffee for everyone.
The council will need all sorts of products
and services for this £1.2m
project – and not just from green technology businesses. They will need
solar panels and insulation – but also scaffolding, draught excluders
and metal roof mounting kits.
Schedule
Jenny
Howarth, the Procurement Officer for Birmingham Energy Savers, and a
representative from Thomas Vale will speak about the opportunities
available and how to tender for them from 7:05 – 7:45.
After a
break for breakfast, two workshops will run simultaneously from 8-8:30.
Edward Leddy-Owen, from the Energy Saving Trust, will lead a session on
getting the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) accreditation.
And Jane Newman, Birmingham City Council’s Principal Employment
Development Officer, will discuss the training and funding available.
There
will be more time for networking afterwards.
Please let us
know in advance if you would like to attend a workshop by calling Claire
on 01384 563050.
What is
Birmingham Energy Savers?
Birmingham Energy Savers is a
5-year pilot where the council will offer home and business owners loans
to buy green technology like solar panels and wall insulation. The
council aims to reduce Birmingham’s CO2 emissions, fight fuel poverty
and create jobs.
To attend you will need to register on Find it in Birmingham but this only takes a moment - http://www.finditinbirmingham.com/
