Summary:

Under the auspices of ‘host2host’, a partnership agreement which brings together the exclusive club of host nations to convert sporting ambition into economic success, UK Trade & Investment is organising an inward mission from Brazil in September 2010, focusing on the construction and infrastructure sectors. This will be an opportunity for you to meet major Brazilian contractors that are interested in sourcing the latest construction technologies, practices and products and developing commercial partnerships with UK companies.

An initiative to introduce you to new business opportunities

  • Brazil is the largest country in South America, both in geographical and commercial terms. As a highgrowth market there is huge potential across many sectors.
  • The construction sector accounts for approximately 13% of Brazil's GDP and is expected to grow by around 9% in 2010. The building materials sector is expected to reach over 15% in 2010. Such overwhelming growth rates are showing that the Brazilian construction sector is facing its best performance ever.
  • The Acceleration Growth Programme (known as “PAC Plan”) launched in 2007 has driven investments in the areas of energy, transport, housing and sanitation. In addition, the construction programmes for the development of the sports events 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games will open a wide range of opportunities for UK companies in the areas of construction services and goods. “Brazil’s Construction sector has one of the largest growth rates in the world and is expected to reach around 9% in 2010.”

There are opportunities for UK companies in these areas:

  • Airports
  • Ports
  • Railways
  • Underground
  • Hotels
  • Hospitals
  • Urban Mobility
  • Sustainable construction
