Black Country Constructing Excellence Club

31st Aug 2010

Since the July's edition of the WMCCE Newsletter which reported the charitable work of several local contractors and suppliers in the Black Country to renovate the home of Ryan, a severely disabled boy, the Black Country Constructing Excellence Club has continued to offer a busy calendar of events to its members.

In June Glen Irwin of Gifford and John Cave of E H Smith Builders Merchants led the group through a review of the new Part L Building Regulations. Members of the group found the event both interesting and informative, whether dealing with the regulations on a daily basis or less frequently. Sandwell Council had kicked off the event with a tour of their FinditinSandwell website, promoting the opportunities available to the industry in and around Sandwell.

July saw the Club host a BBQ for over 80 people, kindly sponsored by the Collaborative Working Centre (CWC) and the University of Wolverhampton. Talks were given by Neil Jarrett of CWC, Shaun Aldis of Wolverhampton Homes and Gavin Fraser of ROK about improvements in business techniques, showcasing examples of utilising the techniques within their own companies.

August has seen the Club take its annual break but in the meantime the Club is busy preparing for its next event on 30 September with Constructing Better Health www.constructingbetterhealth.co.uk. Constructing Better Health is responsible for delivering the National Scheme for the Management of Occupational Health in the Construction Industry. Full details can be seen on the website and we hope to see you there!

Finally, the Club is pleased to have been nominated for Midlands Networking Club of the Year in the Midlands Business Awards and we thank our members and associates for their support. The Club will find out later in the year whether we are finalists – keep your fingers crossed!
