Technology Transfer and Innovation

The development of products and characterisation of materials for the construction industry is an area of growing interest.
It is often the case that new products or materials being developed cannot be measured or assessed directly by current standards.
Knowledge of materials behaviour coupled with expertise in testing and test methods can reduce significantly the amount of time spent in product development.

Benefits:

  • Independent, impartial advice on product development.
  • Ability to tailor product/material directly to an identified end use or application (and identification of that end use).
  • Bespoke test programmes derived from specialised materials and product knowledge.

What does the programme cover?

  • Access to an independent UKAS accredited laboratory with extensive test facilities.
  • Assessment of material or product to current relevant British and/or European Standards.
  • Advice on material/product development and applications

Innovation in building product design can also help to reduce
construction time and costs, and can contribute to sustainability e.g. the development of new products and materials which use recycled materials.
